One person potentially ruled out for AEW’s contract signing segment at the 2023 Full Gear PPV

As previously noted, AEW President Tony Khan announced that “one of the world’s best wrestlers” will be signing an AEW contract at the 2023 Full Gear PPV. As seen during the 2023 AEW All In PPV, the injured Mercedes Mone (formerly Sasha Banks) was shown watching the event in the crowd. It was reported at the time that Mercedes is expected to work with AEW once she is cleared to wrestle again.

There has been internet speculation that Mercedes will appear at Full Gear and according to Fightful Select, AEW talent have also been wondering about Khan’s announcement. Fightful noted the following in regards to Mercedes…

“Though we’ve heard as far back as August that there were working plans for the two sides to work together, the plan isn’t to announce her this weekend at AEW Full Gear, if people in the company are to be believed. Several have stated that when asked, it was indicated that the Full Gear announcement isn’t Mercedes.”

During a media call to promote the Full Gear PPV, Khan said the following in regards to the signing…

“I’m really excited about that. It’s gonna be someone that will be a great addition to AEW and it’s gonna be a big deal.”
