News regarding Bryan Danielson coming out to The Final Countdown at AEW/NJPW Forbidden Door

As seen during the 2023 AEW/NJPW Forbidden Door PPV event, Bryan Danielson entered the ring to Europe’s The Final Countdown for the first time since his WWE run. During the post-show media scrum, Danielson said that he didn’t ask to use the song and it was AEW President Tony Khan’s idea.

Primary Wave Music recently made a deal with Joey Tempest, the lead vocalist of Europe, to acquire a portion of his music publishing catalog. Despite this, it appears that AEW’s usage of The Final Countdown was a one time deal as Khan stated that the license is as expensive as a “wrestler’s contract.” Khan was working on the deal before the rights to the song were sold by Europe.

Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics.com also noted that “rights are in perpetuity so it [Final Countdown] will be usable in video library” and the music won’t be dubbed over.
