Mercedes Mone was reportedly willing to lose a match prior to AEW All In: Texas

TBS champion Mercedes Mone, who is undefeated in AEW singles matches, is scheduled to challenge AEW women’s champion Toni Storm at the AEW All In: Texas PPV event. Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com noted the following about what was originally planned for the show…

“Regarding Mercedes Mone not having lost in AEW since her debut, those close to her say she was willing to lose to Athena to build a rematch at All In, but when the Toni Storm vs. Mone match was decided upon, it made no sense for her to lose that match and not win the Owen Hart tournament. The original idea months back still involved Mariah May for the stadium show but obviously that was changed when May wasn’t going to sign a new deal, so they wanted to do the biggest match for women in the company on the biggest show.”

In regards to the story, Fightful.com noted the following via Twitter/X…

“Toni Storm vs. Mercedes Mone has been the plan for AEW All In since 2024, and was not affected by Mariah May’s departure, @FightfulSelect confirmed with AEW sources. AEW sources said while Mercedes has been open to losing to talent, it hasn’t even been broached as of yet.”

Mercedes won the CMLL women’s title at this week’s Grand Slam Mexico edition of AEW Dynamite.
