Kenny Omega was reportedly #1 on WWE’s “most wanted list” prior to signing new AEW contract

As previously noted, members of The Elite (Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks’ Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson, and “Hangman” Adam Page) have all signed multi-year contracts with AEW.

According to Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com, WWE was said to have been significantly interested in Omega and he was #1 on the company’s “most wanted list.” However, WWE wasn’t legally able make a formal offer as Omega’s contract had been extended due to his time off from injuries.

Meltzer noted the following…

“One person with knowledge of WWE’s interest has noted to us that while Omega was top talent who would have been used as a top guy, in the mix with the likes of Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes, Seth Rollins and Brock Lesnar level guys, that because of long-term physical durability that they believed Rollins as the role of the best in-ring wrestler in the company had more time in that role than Omega would have.”
