Kairi Sane could still appear at WWE Backlash to finish her storyline with Asuka and Iyo Sky

Kairi Sane was among several WWE departures announced on April 24th 2026. Following the news of Kairi’s departure, a #WeWantKairi movement trended on Twitter/X.

Although she has been released by WWE, Kairi may not be entirely finished with the company. According to Bryan Alvarez of F4WOnline.com, there is a belief within WWE that she could appear at Backlash this Saturday to wrap up her storyline with Iyo SKY and Asuka. It is not yet known whether this would be a one-time appearance or something more.

“Within WWE, it’s felt there is a better than 50% chance that Kairi shows up at Backlash to at least finish off that storyline,” Alvarez wrote to his subscribers on X. Iyo is scheduled to face Asuka in a singles match at the event.
