Jeff Jarrett: “There are a section of fans that want to believe that they know what they’re talking about”
While speaking on his podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Jeff Jarrett addressed CM Punk’s “botched” moonsault from the 2026 WWE SummerSlam PLE. Jarrett stated the following in regards to the public criticism…
“The term botch, like I saw the moonsault. God bless wrestling fans, you know how, Conrad, we say, ‘Ah, we just want to believe.’ And as a fan, okay.
I think there are certain wrestling fans, and I’m here for it. Keep watching, keep criticizing, keep commenting, keep doing what you want to. You know, it’s the business.
But I think there are a section of fans that want to believe that they know what they’re talking about and that they would never, ever, ever believe, ‘Oh, you know, uh, Punk moonsault— That’s exactly how he wanted to do it and how you laid out.’ It was a [Terry] Funk, or it was his version.”
Jarrett continued…
“I could dive into stories like that. King Carl Fergie, first cousin of [Jerry] Lawler. We used to do a spot that he said, ‘Hey, man, you go for the lockup. I’m going to go for the top wrist lock. It’s going to feel disjointed. That’s how I want it. We’re going to do it once and you don’t let me have it. Do it twice. Don’t let me have it.’
And it looked kind of funky. The third time I get the top wrist lock, and then he pulls my hair and we start the match on a different way.
But God, that’s what I’m saying. Some people want to believe so bad that you have to have everything perfect and seamless in a dance contest and a true ballet performance, and if everything isn’t flawless, that means it’s a sloppy match.
That is so far from reality. But hey, man, wrestling fans are going to b*tch about what they want to b*tch.”
