Ilja Dragunov expected to sign with AEW following his departure from WWE
Last month, it was reported that Ilja Dragunov had left WWE. Dragunov’s WWE departure was his decision after he and the company were unable to reach an agreement on a new contract.
According to Fightful.com, Dragunov is expected to sign with AEW. This has reportedly been the plan for some time, although some final details are still being worked out to make the move official.
Dragunov will be able to continue using the “Ilja” name, but it has not yet been determined whether he will also be able to use “Dragunov,” which he used prior to joining WWE.
When asked about Dragunov, AEW President Tony Khan called him a “tremendous professional wrestler.”
Ilja is coming to AEW, myself and @FightfulSelect have learned.
Details on the timetable, and why he hasn't appeared yet, up now for subscribers.
