Future WWE WrestleMania events could be taking place in Las Vegas “on a regular basis”
On Thursday, it was reported that WrestleMania 42 will not taking place in New Orleans despite WWE’s announcement and a new location was to be determined. It was noted by NOLA.com that WWE “would rather hold next year’s event in Las Vegas.”
According to Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com, the decision was partly driven by WrestleMania 41’s substantial revenue from various sources in Las Vegas, which New Orleans couldn’t match. Additionally, the company reportedly favors Las Vegas because key TKO executives reside there and WWE President Nick Khan grew up in the area.
Meltzer wrote the following…
“The plan is now to run WrestleMania on a regular basis in the city, not necessarily every year, but frequently. The idea is that the city wants to have a major destination sports event every year, and by definition they are looking at the Super Bowl, The Final Four, the College Football national championship final and WrestleMania so would be looking for Mania any year that they don’t have one of the other three events.”
PWInsider.com stated that fans should expect a lot more WWE major events in Las Vegas going forward annually.
