As previously noted, Mustafa Ali publicly announced that he was requesting his release from WWE. However, it was later reported that WWE would not be granting his request to be released.

On Sunday night and Monday morning, #FreeAli became a trending topic on Twitter with the following description…

Wrestling fans are calling for WWE to release star Mustafa Ali after he requested to be released on January 16.

It appears that the hashtag gained traction after the @WWEonFOX Twitter account started blocking users that were tagging the account with the #FreeAli hashtag. Ali then announced that he was blocking the @WWEonFOX account.
