Damian Priest reportedly helped a female talent deal with mobbing fans at WWE’s hotel just prior to CM Punk incident

Following his match with Roman Reigns at WWE WrestleMania 42, CM Punk was involved in an altercation with a fan at the Las Vegas Strip hotel/casino where talent has been staying. Punk ended up knocking the fan’s phone out of his hand.

Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com noted that the lack of security at the hotel was a topic of conversation during WrestleMania week. Johnson stated the following..

“A long-time PWInsider.com reader who happened to be staying at the same hotel (who asked not to be identified) told PWInsider.com that not only were Punk and others being surrounded by fans trying to get photos while Bayley and AJ Lee were speaking, but just minutes before this happened, WWE’s Damian Priest had to step in to help a female WWE talent get away from a similar group of fans trying to surround her for photos and autographs – and noted there were lots of other instances of similar occurrences.”

Johnson was also told about at least one incident in which a referee was nearly knocked down by a crowd of fans inside the hotel.

WWE talent were required to make multiple appearances throughout the weekend, making it difficult to avoid being seen while entering or leaving the hotel. The venue, which was part of a major casino, remained open to the public, and WWE did not restrict access in the way it had at some past events. As a result, members of the public were able to move freely throughout the property, including near the elevator banks.

Video clips of Randy Orton and Drew McIntyre being mobbed by fans at the hotel have gone viral on social media.
