Backstage news regarding the 2023 Anarchy in the Arena match at AEW Double or Nothing

As seen during the 2023 AEW Double or Nothing PPV, the Blackpool Combat Club defeated The Elite in an Anarchy in the Arena match. According to Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com, “several in the match noted how much they were excited about how it turned out and it being a team effort.” However, there were challenges that AEW faced heading into the match.

Meltzer noted that the participants and production team didn’t have the preparation time they did for last year’s match. In 2022, AEW was able to scout the T-Mobile arena for ideas but couldn’t do the same thing this year because the Las Vegas Golden Knights had a playoff game the night before in the building. Furthermore, Meltzer noted that the arena “gave the company limitations for the match and a lot of ideas were shut down by the building because of things that happened in last year’s match.”

In regards to the exploding superkick spot, Matt Jackson came up with it around a month ago and wanted to do something that hadn’t been done before. Jackson reportedly had to get a Nevada State Fire Performers license in order for the spot to be part of the show.
