– Bayley, Naomi, Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill defeated Tiffany Stratton & Damage CTRL (Asuka, Kairi Sane & Dakota Kai)

The babyfaces won despite tension between them during the match.

– Grayson Waller & Austin Theory cut a backstage promo.

– Kayla Braxton interviewed Belair & Cargill ahead of their title match against WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Asuka & Sane at Backlash. Belair got flustered when Bayley and Naomi came into the room, but Cargill calmed her down.

– There was a backstage segment where Carmelo Hayes said that he wants to be in the King of the Ring tournament.

Bobby Lashley told Hayes to call him if he needs anything or if he needs any advice. Hayes said he appreciates Lashley but thinks he has it figured out himself. After a back and forth, Lashley warned Hayes to be careful who he disrespects.

– AOP defeated Pete Dunne & Tyler Bate

– Paul Heyman met with SmackDown general manager Nick Aldis. Aldis denied Heyman’s request to cancel the Owens & Orton vs. Solo Sikoa & Tama Tonga match that’s set for Backlash. In response, Heyman said he isn’t responsible for what happens to Owens & Orton.

It was revealed during the interaction that Heyman and Roman Reigns haven’t spoken since WrestleMania. Heyman said Reigns didn’t pull himself from the draft — Heyman did it on his own to keep Reigns out of the chaos that’s going on in The Bloodline.

Aldis said that, if Heyman can do that on his own, he should get Owens & Orton to back out of Backlash.

– Heyman appeared as Owens & Orton’s guest on The RKO Show. They questioned if Heyman was trying to get them to forfeit the Backlash match. A brawl between Owens & Orton and Sikoa & Tonga broke out.

– The Street Profits cut a backstage promo.

– LA Knight defeated Angel

After the match, Knight declared for King of the Ring. Santos Escobar interrupted Knight and also declared for the tournament.

– Dragon Lee attacked Carlito during a backstage interview.

– WWE Tag Team Champions Grayson Waller & Austin Theory defeated The Street Profits to retain their titles

– Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Cody Rhodes and AJ Styles had a face-to-face in advance of their title match at Backlash. Styles slapped Rhodes at the conclusion of the segment.

– As SmackDown was going off the air, it was shown that Sikoa & Tonga were having a wild brawl with Owens & Orton backstage. Security was attempting to break the brawl up.
