Update on plans for the WWE Title match at WrestleMania 42 seemingly being changed
Drew McIntyre vs. Cody Rhodes in a WWE title match has been confirmed for this Friday’s edition of SmackDown. The winner will defend against Elimination Chamber winner Randy Orton at WrestleMania 42.
Earlier this week, it was reported by PWInsider.com that the current expectation is that a title change could take place on SmackDown. Sources indicated to Bodyslam.net that discussions about Orton vs. Cody began in early February as a way to shake things up for WrestleMania season and finally pay off the teases from the past few years. The two men were said to have not been officially informed of the change until last week.
As it stands, the current plan for McIntyre at WrestleMania looks to be a singles match against Jacob Fatu, with McIntyre scheduled to begin filming Highlander shortly after the event.
