Marina Shafir on reaching to Jon Moxley: “I had just gotten released from The Fed and I didn’t know what the f*ck was going to happen”
While speaking to Renee Paquette, AEW star Marina Shafir of The Death Riders commented on reaching out to Jon Moxley after her departure from WWE in 2021…
Marina: “The first match I sent Jon was my match with Masha [Slamovich] from Bloodsport, my very first one. ’Cuz you know, I had just gotten released from The Fed [WWE] and I didn’t know what the f*ck was going to happen. All I knew was that I had a mortgage to pay. I had to hustle. My son deserves the best education. And I need to fortify myself and like establish myself.”
Renee: “I remember Jon talking about that and him talking about you and see it’s like ‘damn, look at her go.’ I mean, obviously he had been around Ronda [Rousey] before in WWE and around Shayna [Baszler] and stuff, but for him to be able to like see this thing in you and then you guys to blow it up into what it is now. But for you to step out of the Death Riders and have your solo missions, these matches that you’ve been having have been incredible.”
