What is being said about CM Punk’s contractual status with WWE heading into Summerslam 2024

During his podcast, Ibou of WrestlePurists.com stated that CM Punk is trying to get his WWE contract restructured. Ibou stated the following…

“I can tell you right now that he is in the process of trying to get his deal restructured from a money and years standpoint. Punk’s legitimate stance right now is, ‘If all goes well, I will never leave.’ That’s his legitimate standpoint. He wants to be here forever is the actual word he used. Basically, he wants this to work out. He wants to get paid, and then he wants when it’s time to slow it down, to slow it down and just run NXT.” (quote courtesy of WrestlingNews.co)

While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com went into more details about the matter…

“What happened when CM Punk came in, they (WWE) had a short-term deal which is expiring now. Now there are rollovers in the deal so there’s not like a hurry that they have to sign him because the deal does go longer. But they knew all along that right around now would be when they would be renegotiating any deals.

People are taking this like ‘oh he’s trying to renegotiate this contract’ and it’s like it was kinda known that that was going to happen now. Everyone is getting along fine. There’s nothing wrong with it or anything like that. I see all the comments like ‘he’s trying to do this, or he’s angling for this, or he’s trying to get a lifetime contract’ — and its just like he just trying to hammer down the terms that everyone knew they were going to do at a certain point, which is now — just to basically get everyone back on the page because they both know where they want to be.” (quote courtesy of WrestlePurists)

Punk is scheduled to face Drew McIntyre a the 2024 WWE Summerslam PLE.
