What WWE reportedly intended with the Charlotte Flair vs. Rhea Ripley finish at Hell in a Cell
As seen at the 2021 WWE Hell in a Cell PPV, Rhea Ripley retained her RAW women’s title against Charlotte Flair by getting disqualified.
Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com noted that the finish was designed to further establish Ripley as a heel and it wasn’t meant to be a Charlotte babyface turn. Meltzer wrote that “the idea to make Ripley a heel was to show her celebrating her cheap way out of the match.” It was also brought up how the Thunderdome audience was instructed to cheer Ripley during the match but then boo her after the disqualification.
The rematch, which will take place at the Money in the Bank PPV, is currently scheduled to be heel vs. heel. There is speculation that it could turn into a stipulation match where there are no disqualifications.
