How WBD is reportedly reacting to the CM Punk situation with AEW Collision

As previously noted, AEW officially confirmed the new weekly Collision show for Saturday nights but there was no mention of CM Punk despite rumors of him being the show’s focal point. Bryan Alvarez of F4WOnline.com tweeted that “there is definitely a story with this CM Punk deal” and said “it’s not impossible that this deal has fallen through” during his podcast.

In regards to how Warner Brothers Discovery is reacting to the situation, Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com noted the following during Wrestling Observer Radio…

“From the WBD side – because nobody from the AEW side has talked about this at all, nor confirmed any of this – from the WBD side, they have said that their belief is that there will be an attempt to work it out. They’re hopeful that they work it out, that it’s not a dead deal.”

Meltzer also commented on the promotional material being changed…

“MJF was put on the poster in the position that Punk was going to be in. So, that was to fill out the poster, and the rest of the people were in the positions that they were supposed to be.” (quotes courtesy of WrestleTalk.com)

AEW President Tony Khan talked about the debut of Collision during the May 17th 2023 edition of Dynamite but did not mention Punk. A location for the debut show, which was rumored to be in Chicago at the United Center, was not announced but will be next week.
