During the April 17th 2023 edition of WWE RAW, Cody Rhodes vs. Brock Lesnar was made official for the WWE Backlash 2023 PLE.
In a promo segment, Cody wanted to fight Lesnar but Adam Pearce revealed that Cody wasn’t cleared to wrestle yet. Security came down to the ringside followed by Lesnar and Pearce said the match would take place at Backlash. Lesnar left and Cody attacked the security.
