Wrestle Review: Skim It

That title above pretty much describes how I watch WWE these days. Actually, if I’m being honest, it sometimes describes how I watch all wrestling. I’m so far behind on Impact that, sometimes I just speed through to see if anybody good is on. If not, I delete. AEW though….

Looks like Gunn Club is the next team to challenge Jurassic Express for the AEW tag titles. Maybe they win a battle royal or something to get the shot at JE next month. They might be the #1 ranked team, I don’t know. I don’t keep up with the rankings. I do think House of Black will get a shot eventually, though. They look impressive. Does AEW even go by their own rankings anymore, though? Lance Archer is getting an AEW World Championship match this week. Archer just returned and hasn’t even had a match in months. That makes no sense to me. But hey, why question it I guess. Maybe they’re listening to fans who say Page’s title run has been boring and they’re going to shock the world of wrestling by having Archer win the title. Nah.

MJF handing CM Punk his first loss in AEW this past Wednesday was huge. That’s the guy I think takes the title off Page next month. Fans hate MJF anyway and he has epic heat for cheating to hand Punk his first loss in AEW this past week. Those are perfect ingredients for a heel champion. Book it, AEW!

Over on Smackdown, they’re really playing up this “Rick Boogs looks like Freddie Mercury” thing. They went so far Friday as to have him do a very poor version of Freddie’s “Ay-Oh” from Live Aid. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, look it up. Awesome final performance!

WWE obviously consider Big E’s WWE title run a failure. They’ve moved him to Smackdown and paired him with Kofi, another former WWE champion who will never see those heights again. Do we really need Goldberg vs Reigns? We were supposed to get it a few years back at WrestleMania. Remember? That was when people at least still pretended to care a little about WWE. As it stands, I imagine Reigns beats Goldberg and goes onto Mania to face Lesnar again. We’ll also get Rousey/Flair, I hope a Becky/Bianca match of some sort, maybe with Liv thrown in and make it a triple. But I’m getting ahead of myself.

I was going to do my podcast last weekend, but sleep won out. So, I’ll have two weeks’ worth to put into one this weekend. Check out Blendertainment on Spotify, Apple or wherever you get your podcasts! I’ll see you right back here next weekend!
