NoDQ&A: Brock Lesnar potentially heading to AEW, favorite matches from WCW and more

Welcome to NoDQ&A! I first started this series in 2010 and it has been switching between text and video formats since 2011. Here are some of your wrestling questions answered via Twitter/X…

Q: Could AEW sign Brock Lesnar if he leaves WWE?

If WWE doesn’t bring back Lesnar, I don’t see AEW bringing him in because of the potential bad publicity. My gut feeling is that Lesnar is completely done with wrestling if he doesn’t return to WWE.

Q: Has WWE terminated Brock Lesnar’s contract?

I haven’t heard anything about it being terminated. WWE might just let his contract run out unless they change their minds and bring him back.

Q: Should Wrestlemania have a halftime show?

Even with a two-day format, the Wrestlemania shows are still long so I’m not sure I would want more time filler.

Q: Do I follow NJPW?

I will watch an occasional match here and there but I don’t follow it regularly. There is already a lot of wrestling content I need to get through each week between WWE and AEW.

Q: Is AEW’s attendance as bad as it seems?

The numbers are definitely down from last year. You want to be trending up, not down. The arenas are expensive to book so it’s hard to imagine these events are profitable for AEW right now.

Q: What is your favorite wrestling finisher of all time?

Stone Cold Stunner. It made Steve Austin a household name without him actually having to wrestle. Austin could go out there, stun somebody, and the fans would be happy. Look at that September 1997 period when he stunned people leading up to Vince McMahon.

Q: What was the best wrestling match I’ve seen in person?

Shawn Michaels vs. Kurt Angle at Wrestlemania 21. Second place would be CM Punk vs. Brock Lesnar at #Summerslam 2013.

Q: What went wrong with Chris Masters in WWE?

His physique is what brought him to the dance but he didn’t show much in the ring or on the mic when he debuted. I actually think he got better as time went on but #WWE had already moved on to other wrestlers.

Q: Favorite WCW angle and matches?

Easily the NWO formation and early months in 1996 – it changed wrestling. My favorite WCW matches include Nasty Boys vs. Cactus Jack & Maxx Payne, Ric Flair vs. Sting or Hulk Hogan or Ricky Steamboat, Rey Mysterio vs. Eddie Guerrero, Bill Goldberg vs. DDP, Randy Savage vs. DDP.

Q: Thoughts on Roddy Piper’s WCW run?

I thought it was a mixed bag. I loved his promos and storyline with the NWO. Unfortunately, Piper was physically past his peak and a lot of his WCW matches were not too good.
