Cody Rhodes vs. John Cena at WrestleMania 41: The Fart in Church Ending

After watching WrestleMania Night 2 ending and getting a full night of sleep on it, I have come to realize something I am loathe to admit. Something that I thought I would never ever say in a million years but I have to say it.

Jim Cornette & Vince Russo, Scott D’Amore, Tony Khan, Dixie Carter and Ole Anderson could have booked a better ending than Cena-Cody.

Hell, I could book a better ending with TWL’s help with Aaron Rift supervising.

And that is saying something because none of us are bookers or writers.

The ending to John Cena defeating Cody Rhodes was not just cheap but horrible and dull and could ruin Cody Rhodes’ momentum. Add to the fact we got no Rock and the only interference was Travis Scott and this was a turd sandwich with a side of cow dung.

Before WWE fans jump me or insiders say I am a “Cody Crybaby”, let me explain and point out the biggest reason for the hate of this.

In Wrestling, movies and television the biggest objective is to tell a compelling story that makes all the characters look reasonable. If the hero is too weak or stupid, you immediately run the risk of people jumping off the ship. If the villain is underwhelming, out of his depth and has no real plan, then people will roll their eyes and get bored.

This ending did nothing but tell the fans who were expecting The Rock that they were stupid and that Cody is a complete moron.

The fact that Travis Scott came to the ring alone, walking slower than a snail, was a big reason the match lost steam. And the ending was stupid.

Despite the referee being knocked out, Cody Rhodes after grabbing the title and threatening to blast John Cena instead… does nothing, gets kicked in the balls, hit with the title belt and pinned.

I have no problem with Cena winning as we knew the company wanted him to break the record and mission accomplished. I liked the heel turn because at the time, I was looking for something fresh and wanted to see where it plays out.

This did nothing but show how stupid Cody is and that the Rock showing up at Elimination Chamber was just all for not.

For those who say that “This is good storytelling” and that trust WWE because its part of the plan, your as bad as the AEW fans who say “Enjoy all Wrestling”.

Sometimes its okay to call it like we see it.

The ending sucked and all parties should do a face palm.
