WWE star Drew McIntyre addresses people that refer to wrestling as “fake” in 2025

While appearing on the WAFFLIN’ podcast, Drew McIntyre said the following in regards to people that refer to wrestling as “fake” in 2025…

“If anyone can figure out how to fake gravity, please tell me. Every time I jump up, I keep freaking falling down and it hurts….No, we’re like a live-action soap opera. We do our takes in one in front of a live audience, a very interactive product. We never claimed for it to be real. So bizarre in 2025 people are saying, ‘No, it’s fake.’ Look at Daniel Day-Lewis and say, you know, ‘Your movies are not real, by the way.’ And he would get offended because he’s such a method actor. That’s the difference, but it’s just bizarre in 2025, people still think that way, rather than we know what it is.

We have our fans. There’s a reason we have our fans, a reason we have millions and millions and millions of fans, literally all across the world, billions of social media. Give it a shot. I’ll even go back and forth and explain it to you. What makes it so different? What makes it so unique? But the key thing is, just give it a try. If you like it, you like it. If you don’t, you don’t. But generally, for my buddies in Scotland who weren’t the biggest wrestling fan just watch it, because I’m in it. They come and check out a live show. Go to experience it live, the spectacle, the athleticism, when they see it up close. ‘Oh my god. Like, this is there’s so much to this than I thought there was.’ Just a spectacle, just incredible……There’s something for everybody was such a smorgasbord of entertainment. We never claimed to be the things that people don’t watch us say we are. So I always say, just give it a freaking chance we might just hook you.” (quote courtesy of WrestlingNews.co)
