WWE changing the commentary teams for television in September of 2024
Last month, it was reported by the New York Post that ESPN announcer Joe Tessitore had joined WWE. During the WWE Summerslam 2024 Kickoff show, Michael Cole introduced viewers to Tessitore. Tessitore was referred to as a long time wrestling fan going back to his days in upstate New York.
Cole announced that Tessitore will officially start with the company as a commentator for Monday Night RAW on September 2nd. Cole will be moving over to Smackdown for the show’s USA Network launch on September 13th.
According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com, Cole and Pat McAfee will be back on the RAW commentary team for the move to Netflix in January. McAfee will be returning to ESPN’s “College GameDay” for the fall football season and it’s unknown if he will be making WWE appearances during that time.
As just announced by @MichaelCole, @JoeTessESPN will be debuting on the commentary team on #WWERaw on September 2 live from Denver, CO with Cole heading back to #SmackDown! pic.twitter.com/OGgCMtJHTI
