Wrestlers react to video of former WWE star Matt Riddle having a match in parking lot

Over the weekend, former WWE star Matt Riddle worked a street-style match in the middle of a downtown parking lot for Appalachian Championship Wrestling (ACW). Riddle went up against independent wrestler Josh Bishop.

Video footage from the match circulated on Twitter/X. Some fans framed it as a decline for Riddle’s career following his release from WWE.

Wrestlers Matt Cardona and Karl Anderson came to Riddle’s defense. Cardona wrote, “I’ve wrestled in worse places. It’s independent wrestling. Aren’t you supposed to be an educated fan?” Anderson wrote, “This is awesome. Great safe chair shot by Josh. Great safe release style chair shot from Matt. Fans are enjoying and reacting. Both got their fee, along with merch sold at all times. Pro wrestling is thriving World Wide.”
