World title match officially confirmed for the 2025 WWE Royal Rumble PLE

As seen during the December 27th 2024 edition of WWE Smackdown, there was an in-ring segment with Kevin Owens and general manager Nick Aldis. After Owens refused to relinquish the winged eagle title that he stole from Undisputed WWE Universal champion Cody Rhodes, Cody showed up. Cody proposed a ladder match at the Royal Rumble with both titles on the line.

After Owens accepted, he shoved Aldis into Cody and attacked Cody. Owens said “see you at the Rumble, bitch” as the show went off the air.
