What’s being said about Mercedes Mone’s status with NJPW and future in wrestling

At New Japan Pro Wrestling’s 2023 Battle in the Valley PPV event in San Jose, CA, Mercedes Mone defeated Kairi to become the IWGP women’s champion. Mercedes is schedule to have her first title defense against AZM at NJPW Sakura Genesis next month. After that, Mercedes will make Stardom debut on April 23rd against Mayu Iwatani.

Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com noted that “as of right now, Mercedes Mone has no dates left with Bushiroad (parent company of NJPW and Stardom) after the 4/23 Yokohama Arena show. Unless that changes, logic would say she would drop the IWGP title to Mayu Iwatani at that show.” Meltzer added that if Mercedes wins, it means she reached an agreement with NJPW for a longer deal.

Earlier this month, Mercedes said the following to TMZ.com regarding her future in wrestling…

“I’m putting the offer on the table for the list to see who’s next. I want to see who’s ready for Mercedes Mone because I turn down for nobody. I’m always here for the check. I’m always here for the bag, and whoever has the biggest bag is where I’m gonna go.”
