What WWE is believed to have planned for Rey Mysterio and the LWO when he returns from injury
As previously noted Rey Mysterio had knee surgery following his angle with Santos Escobar on the November 10th 2023 edition of WWE Smackdown. Mysterio is reportedly still in Birmingham, Alabama while recovering from his procedure but is expected to be back in time for a potential Wrestlemania 40 match against Escobar.
During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com discussed the situation with Mysterio’s injury…
“So the deal with Rey is going to be out for 6 to 8 weeks. He had a torn meniscus for three months. But the idea was that because of the Logan Paul match and also the angle, but mainly the Logan Paul match being in Saudi, he wanted to stay. Basically, the deal was that he was going to stay for Saudi to lose to Logan Paul and then immediately do the angle with Santos.”
“The idea is it’s gonna be group vs group. It’s gonna be Santos with partners against Rey with partners. I don’t know what they’re going to do with the LWO name, which side gets it. Maybe they’re gonna feud over the name even, I don’t know. But it’s gonna be a group vs group thing, and obviously Carlito will be with Rey, and Santos will be with, at least right now, Cruz and Joaquin. I don’t know where Zelina’s going. So that’s the situation there.” (quotes courtesy of WrestlingNews.co and WrestleTalk.com)
