What is being said about the status of WWE Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia following U.S. airstrikes on Iran

Over the weekend, the United States conducted airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities amid Iran’s conflict with Israel. Iran’s foreign minister has threatened “consequences” in response and this has led to concern about WWE traveling to Saudi Arabia for the Night of Champions PLE.

According to Cory Hays of Bodyslam.net, WWE “is keeping an eye on the situation in the Middle East but as of right now there are no plans to move SmackDown and Night of Champions from Riyadh this upcoming weekend.” Furthermore, Fightful Select noted the following about the status of NOC in Saudi…

“At least in Saudi Arabia, those around the event are preparing as if the event is happening. One source working on the event called it ‘full steam ahead’ as of Sunday afternoon locally. That one source– speaking on a matter of opinion — didn’t believe it would be postponed or canceled, and thought there was too much money at stake with the upcoming Royal Rumble being there. Beyond that, the source said that ‘Saudi is one of the safest places in the world’ as it relates to this situation, and another source believed that WWE would be made assurances of said safety.”
