What is being said about Shinsuke Nakamura’s status with WWE following United States title loss

As seen during the March 7th 2025 edition of WWE Smackdown, Shinsuke Nakamura lost the United States title to LA Knight. Following his loss, internet rumors spread that Nakamura was leaving the company.

While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com addressed the situation…

“When that story first broke, I immediately asked WWE and they immediately got back to me. What they said is false is Nakamura leaving. They said that is completely false. I did later ask exactly if that [Smackdown] was his last match and I did not get an answer on that… I am not certain what the Nakamura thing is other than he’s not being released from his contract, he’s still under contract, he’s still with the company.”

In addition to what Meltzer said, Fightful.com noted that “nobody we’d talked to had heard anything to lend credibility to Shinsuke Nakamura leaving WWE.”
