What happened with Cody Rhodes after WWE SmackDown abruptly went off the air
The July 10th 2026 edition of WWE SmackDown ended with Gunther attacking SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis. As the assault continued, Cody Rhodes ran down to make the save but the broadcast abruptly went off the air before he reached the ring.
In post-show footage shared by WWE, Cody challenged Gunther to a one-on-one match. However, Gunther declined the invitation and walked away.
Cody and CM Punk will face Gunther and Sami Zayn in a tag team match at Saturday Night’s Main Event on July 18th.
Cody Rhodes came to the rescue of Nick Aldis from Gunther as SmackDown went off the air.
