What happened during the mask vs. mask match between the two El Grande Americanos

At Saturday night’s AAA Noche de los Grandes event at Arena Monterrey, a mask vs. mask match took place between the two El Grande Americanos. Both men had elaborate entrances with musical performances. Original Americano hit New Americano with a guitar before the match officially started.

New Americano managed to fight back, and the two had a competitive match. Original Americano tried to rip off the mask, but New Americano responded by putting him through a table. Original Americano later regained the advantage and busted open New Americano. New Americano eventually made a comeback and ripped at Old Americano’s mask before busting him open as well.

New Americano was on the verge of winning when Julio and Bruno interfered on behalf of Old Americano. The two put New Americano through a table, but then Rayo and Bravo showed up to even the odds.

Andrea Bazarte showed up, and commentator JBL said that the last time he heard about Andrea, she was getting into a fight in an elevator in Florida. Old Americano was distracted by her appearance, and that allowed New Americano to take advantage.

The fight continued with both men trading near falls and submission attempts. New Americano was eventually able to secure the pinfall victory.

After the match, Old Americano cut a promo about his journey with the gimmick. He said he’ll always be the original and stated that New Americano would be the only one moving forward. He then unmasked to reveal himself as Chad Gable. Gable talked about his background and had his family join him in the ring. He then vowed to return to AAA and handed his mask over to New Americano.
