Update regarding what actually happened with R-Truth leading up to his WWE Money in the Bank appearance
Last weekend, R-Truth announced that he was leaving WWE. As seen during the 2025 WWE Money in the Bank PLE, R-Truth made a surprise appearance when he attacked John Cena.
In an update on the story, Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com confirmed reports that R-Truth’s situation was not a work. Johnson noted that WWE made a mistake and corrected it…
“They cut someone based on math and realized that they had upset not just the audience but more importantly, the entire realm of their locker room, many of whom privately made their feelings known as much as some did publicly. So, the company course corrected. This doesn’t mean every talent will get a reprieve when WWE cuts them, but Truth as a performer and locker room stalwart was a unique case, and the ripple effect of that unique case actually ended with a positive.”
WWE managed to keep R-Truth’s appearance at MITB a secret. While there were reportedly backstage rumblings of a surprise run-in, Johnson stated that at least a few people believed it was going to be rapper Travis Scott.
