Update on Wardlow’s status with AEW amid absence from television since early 2024

Wardlow has not wrestled in AEW since the March 13th 2024 “Big Business” edition of Dynamite. During the Stick To Wrestling podcast in September of 2024, Wardlow’s Undisputed Kingdom teammate Matt Taven stated that Wardlow was out with a knee injury.

According to Fightful Select, Wardlow was also involved in a car accident. Fightful was told that the car accident didn’t cause the injury but made it worse.

While Wardlow was reportedly backstage at AEW Revolution 2025, it’s believed that there is another reason why he hasn’t returned to AEW television. Fightful stated the following…

“Wardlow landed what is said to be a ‘very appropriate and special’ television role in the earlier part of 2025. Upon meeting with Tony Khan, all parties agreed that it wouldn’t serve anyone well to just bring him back briefly and take him off again for the TV role.”

It’s being said that Wardlow still has a “significant” amount of time left on his AEW contract. It remains unknown when he will make his wrestling return.
