Update on the report that MJF and Tony Khan had a “heated conversation”

As previously noted, it was reported by Fightful Select that AEW President Tony Khan had a “heated conversation” with MJF following MJF’s interview with Ariel Helwani.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com had an update on the matter…

“There was a situation, it has been settled. You’re supposed to tell the office when you’re doing interviews, they’re not supposed to find out when the interview’s on.”

It’s believed that Khan and MJF had a follow-up conversation on Monday which went better than the first one. Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful noted that Khan didn’t have an issue with what was said by MJF but rather with how the interview was arranged. Sapp also said the following…

“I know MJF is frustrated about his contract. Wants to be paid more and that’s just the long and short of it. There are a lot of people who have come in after him that are getting paid way more and MJF has still probably got two years on that deal and knows his worth, and I don’t think there’s been much budging on the AEW side of things.” (quotes courtesy of WrestlePurists.com)
