Update on former WWE star Curtis Axel’s DWI case

Former WWE wrestler Joe Hennig, known as Curtis Axel, has reached a plea agreement in his DWI case stemming from a May 2026 arrest in Anoka County, Minnesota.

According to court records, Hennig entered guilty pleas to misdemeanor charges of DWI and disorderly conduct in an agreement submitted on August 24. Three other charges, including refusing to submit to chemical testing and interfering with a peace officer, were dismissed.

Hennig received a 90-day sentence, with 87 days stayed and three days credited for time served. He will be on supervised probation for one year, with the possibility of moving to unsupervised probation after five months. The conditions require him to remain law-abiding and avoid alcohol- or drug-related offenses, as well as assaultive, violent, disorderly, or threatening behavior.

Hennig has completed a required comprehensive assessment and attended a MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) Impact Panel. He must also pay a $50 fine within 90 days. Hennig will not have to serve additional jail time as long as he complies with the terms of the agreement.
