Update on Daniel Bryan’s Contractual Status with the WWE
Recently, WWE Smackdown superstar Daniel Bryan addressed rumors that his WWE contract was expiring soon, as some reports suggested it would happen during September 2021 as discussed in this 5/3 news post. He refuted the September expiration timeline in an interview with TVLine.com.
However – Sean Ross Sapp, managing editor of Fightful.com, has reported that Daniel Bryan’s WWE contract actually expired following his recent 4/30 Smackdown match with Roman Reigns.

No other details at this time has been given, nor has the WWE officially announced anything regarding Daniel Bryan’s status with the company. As also indicated from our 5/3 news post, WWE.com did move Daniel Bryan from the active Superstar section to the Alumni section of the website where other former WWE wrestlers exist.
Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com confirmed Sapp’s report and noted that WWE “is pushing hard for him to sign a new deal.”
