Update on Cody Rhodes possibly facing Roman Reigns at WWE Wrestlemania 39 instead of The Rock
As previously noted, Cody Rhodes will reportedly challenge Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal title at Wrestlemania 39 if Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is unavailable to perform. Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com has since confirmed that Triple H “made a decision” regarding Reigns’ direction for Wrestlemania as The Rock not being Reigns’ opponent is said to be a “very real possibility” at this time.
Meltzer wrote the following about Cody being the potential opponent…
“I don’t know that direction although Cody Rhodes would be the betting line favorite for those on the outside right now. So it’s not like there are multiple ideas for that match, only maybe two, Johnson and whoever the other plan would be with.”
Cody is expected back “relatively soon” and he seemingly teased a chase for the WWE title during the December 26th 2022 edition of RAW. WWE also recently filed trademarks including the term “From Dreams To Destiny” which has led to speculation about it being related to a Cody world title direction as he’s the son of “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes.
