The latest regarding Adam Cole’s status with AEW after being out of action for almost a year
As seen during the September 20th 2023 “Grand Slam” edition of AEW Dynamite, MJF successfully defended his world title against Samoa Joe. Towards the end of the match, Joe had MJF in the coquina clutch and Adam Cole came down to ringside to motivate MJF. However, Cole appeared to hurt himself while jumping off the ramp to the floor and was immediately seen limping.
Cole has been out of action since announcing that he broke his ankle in three places and needed to have surgery. Cole was attacked by the returning MJF at the 2024 Double or Nothing PPV event.
According to Fightful.com, there is positive news regarding Cole’s recovery as he was reportedly backstage at the August 14th 2024 edition of Dynamite. It’s believed that traveling was having a negative affect on Cole’s progression toward a return to the ring and that’s why he stopped making television appearances. The word is that Cole is set to resume training toward a comeback as soon as this coming week but there is still no confirmation as to when he will be back on television.
While speaking to WrestleTalk.com this month, MJF said the following about Cole and the Undisputed Kingdom…
“He’s dead. I’ve been told by several people he’s dead. I murdered him. Well no (no unfinished business with the Undisputed Kingdom). I cut off the head of the snake, it’s over. I see a lot of people bringing this up. Guys, I work smarter, not harder. What, you wanna do MJF vs. like, seven f**king dudes? I’m good bro. I got my revenge.
Adam Cole’s dead, he’s never coming back to wrestling. He’s gone. He’s gone forever. You will never hear Adam Cole’s voice, you’ll never see Adam Cole’s matches again, you’ll never see another Adam Cole promo, you will never see Adam Cole do anything. I murdered him dead. So you tell me, why would I give a s**t about the sidekicks?”
