Story that The Wyatt Sicks were released because TKO does not like dark characters said to be “bullsh*t”
All members of The Wyatt Sicks were among several WWE departures announced on April 24th 2026. In a Q&A on PWInsider.com, Mike Johnson noted that “there’s been a story bouncing around among talents that someone in the TKO [WWE parent company] realm isn’t a fan of the darker characters.”
Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com noted the following about the claim…
“Regarding the story that the Wyatts and Black were released because TKO didn’t like dark characters, we were told that was ‘bullsh*t’ and that these were not decisions that even reached that level. The feeling was they got all out of the Wyatts they were going to get and [Aleister] Black and [Zelina] Vega was just a decision made on who they weren’t going to do anything more with. The reality is that even though they recruited Black hard to get out of AEW, once he returned, they really didn’t have much in the way of ideas for him.”
According to Meltzer, it was ultimately felt that the Wyatt Sicks had run its course. From the beginning, some viewed it as a short-term concept. While it initially landed strongly with fans as a tribute to Bray Wyatt, it eventually became clear that the gimmick limited how the group could be used in the long term.
Although cost-cutting was part of the broader picture, the cuts were also described as a standard talent reshuffling process to release individuals no longer planned for creative use, while making space for new developmental signings and promotions to RAW and SmackDown.
