Results of Roman Reigns vs. John Cena at WWE Summerslam 2021

Roman Reigns (c) (with Paul Heyman) vs. John Cena

* Cena came to the ring with a new t-shirt in the style of Super Mario Brothers 3 with his 16 title wins listed on the back.

* Reigns made his entrance while wearing a lei and the Usos walked out with him and Paul Heyman. Heyman had the Usos return to the back.

* There was a feeling out process in the opening moments and then Cena got a few early nearfalls. Reigns gained the upper hand and slowed down the pace. At one point, Reigns grabbed the Universal Title and taunted the fans with it.

* Cena tried to hit the AA but Reigns countered with a DDT. “Hollywood, I apologize but I’m gonna hurt this man,” said Reigns to the camera. Cena had a few moments but he would rollup Reigns but Reigns would kick out.

* Cena finally made a full comeback and hit the five knuckle shuffle. Cena then hit the AA but Reigns kicked out at the last-split moment. Cena put on the STF but Reigns got to the rope.

* The two ended up on the outside and Cena gave Reigns an AA through the announce table. Cena got Reigns back in the ring but Reigns kicked out again.

* Cena went for another AA but Reigns got out and hit a superman punch. Cena kicked out and then Reigns went for the spear. Reigns missed the spear and went into the post. Cena got Reigns on the second rope and hit the super AA but Reigns kicked out again.

* Cena did Reigns’ taunt and went for a spear but Reigns countered with a punch. The two exchanged blows. Reigns hit two superman punches and then pinned Cena with a spear.

* After the match, Brock Lesnar made his return and confronted Reigns in the ring.
