Roman Reigns (c) vs. Jacob Fatu for the world heavyweight title took place at WWE Backlash 2026. Here are the highlights…

Reigns took down Fatu at the start of the match, but Fatu popped right back up. After a feeling-out process, Fatu applied the Tongan Death Grip on the outside of the ring. Reigns fought back and targeted Fatu’s hand. Back in the ring, the two were evenly matched as there were dueling chants. Reigns connected with a Superman Punch, but Fatu kicked out at one.

After the fight went back to the outside, Fatu powerbombed Reigns through the announce desk. Back in the ring, Reigns regained control with a spear, but Fatu kicked out. Reigns went for another punch, but Fatu countered with a Samoan drop. Fatu hit a moonsault, but Reigns kicked out.

After the two exchanged blows, Fatu applied the Tongan Death Grip. Reigns escaped, but the referee got knocked down in the process. Reigns hit another spear, and while the referee recovered to make the count, Fatu managed to kick out. After the turnbuckle pad became exposed by accident, Fatu was sent into it, and Reigns retained his title with another spear.

After the match, Fatu attacked Reigns. Fatu took out the referee with a Samoan drop and then re-applied the Tongan Death Grip. Reigns was foaming at the mouth as officials came down to break things up. Fatu left but then returned to the ring and continued his attack. The show ended with Fatu holding up his championship.
