Results of Damian Priest vs. Gunther at WWE Summerslam 2024 PLE

Damian Priest (c) vs. Gunther for the world heavyweight title took place at the WWE Summerslam 2024 PLE in Cleveland, OH. Here are the highlights…

* Before the match, things cooled off between Priest and Finn Balor after things had been heated earlier in the show.

* Priest took the fight to Gunther right off the bat but Gunther fought back. The two fought on the outside and Gunther gained control. Back in the ring, the two exchanged strikes as the crowd did dueling chants.

* Priest built up momentum with kicks but Gunther countered with chops. Priest chopped Gunther back and Gunther’s chest was busted open.

* Priest hit the south of heaven chokeslam but Gunther kicked out. Gunther recovered and hit a lariat but Priest kicked out. Priest signaled for Gunther to bring it and the crowd chanted “this is awesome.”

* Finn Balor showed up and was cheering Priest on. Gunther ended up kicking Balor off the apron. Priest got fired up and pulled down his straps. Priest hit the Razor’s Edge and delivered another south of heaven chokeslam. Priest went for the cover but Balor put Gunther’s foot on the rope.

* Balor glared at Priest as Gunther applied a sleeper submission to Priest. Priest managed to fight out but when grabbed at Balor. Gunther took advantage and reapplied his sleeper submission. Priest tried to fight but passed out and Gunther was declared the winner.
