* John Cena had a dark and bleak entrance, while Cody had dirt bike riders for his entrance.

* There were boos for Cody, and the two men played into the crowd reactions during a feeling-out process. Cena stomped Cody repeatedly, earning cheers from the fans. Cena slowed the pace and worked over Cody with various holds.

* Cody countered the Five Knuckle Shuffle and gained momentum. After Cody delivered a Cody Cutter, Cena countered the Bionic Elbow with an AA, but Cody kicked out. Cena then hit an Avalanche AA, but Cody managed to kick out again.

* Cody caught Cena coming off the top rope with a powerbomb and followed up with another Cody Cutter, but Cena kicked out again. Cena responded with a third AA, then applied the STFU. Cody broke out, but the referee was knocked down in the process. Cody hit a Cross Rhodes, but with the referee down, there was no one to make the count. Cena exposed a top-rope turnbuckle and sent Cody into it. Cena then hit another AA, and the referee counted, but Cody still kicked out. At this point, Travis Scott walked down to the ring.

* Cody took down Cena with a Cross Rhodes, but Scott pulled the referee out of the ring. Scott confronted Cody in the ring, but Cody blocked a punch and laid out Scott with a Cross Rhodes. Cena attempted to hit Cody with the title, but Cody grabbed it away. Cena begged Cody not to hit him, then delivered a low blow. Cena followed up by hitting Cody with the title to win the championship.
