Report: WWE decision makers “were not exactly enthusiastic” about the amount of New York Knicks integration
It was reported by WrestleVotes Radio that WWE’s day-to-day decision-makers “were not exactly enthusiastic” about the amount of New York Knicks integration throughout Saturday Night’s Main Event. It was noted that while those spoken to understood the atmosphere surrounding the event at Madison Square Garden and the Knicks’ NBA championship victory, there was a feeling internally that the presentation went further than many within WWE would have preferred.
The Knicks were featured prominently throughout the show. Karl-Anthony Towns got involved in Danhausen’s match against JD McDonagh while Jalen Brunson played a major role in the closing segment alongside Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton. The show ended with Reigns and Brunson celebrating in the ring with the Larry O’Brien NBA Championship Trophy.
During Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez of F4WOnline.com noted the following about the Knicks and WWE…
“The latest I heard is they’re not going to be involved in SummerSlam. It was just something to do for this night. But they wanted to get their ESPN coverage, and I’m sure they got a lot.
