Report: Where things stand between Vince Russo and WWE in 2026

In his debut Uncrowned column for Yahoo Sports, longtime podcast host Conrad Thompson claimed that former WWE writer Vince Russo “had a series of conversations with WWE President Nick Khan about a possible return to WWE this past summer.”

PWInsider.com noted that the story circulating within WWE is that Russo reached out to Khan about a potential role with the company, but nothing came of the discussions. WWE sources also reportedly confirmed that there was no movement toward officially hiring Russo at any point in 2026. One WWE source joked that Russo would soon be “milking this” for his podcast and suggested that Khan could offer him a legends deal “alongside Necro Butcher.”

“Sources at WWE HQ told Fightful Select that they heard Nick Khan had conversations with Vince Russo, but aren’t sure how serious they were. Sources familiar with the situation said that Russo was either at WWE HQ at one point or was under consideration for a visit there; however, the news didn’t make it to the rest of WWE staff.”

Conrad Thompson published an article that stated Vince Russo had talks with WWE this year.
