Report: Tom Phillips released from WWE
It was first reported by Fightful.com that WWE has come to terms on the release of former RAW and Smackdown lead announcer Tom Phillips. The site noted that Phillips is “the latest in a string of releases affecting backstage personnel and even WWE Studios.” Phillips recently changed his Twitter handle to @TomHannifan which is his real name.
PWInsider.com confirmed Fightful’s report and noted that Phillips’ release went down in the last 24 hours. It was added that Phillips was “very involved in producing and managing other announcers for the company as Senior Manager of On-Air Talent.”
Phillips worked with the company for nearly a decade and was RAW’s lead announcer until the April 12th 2021 edition of the show.
