Report on when WWE will be returning to Madison Square Garden
Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com is reporting that WWE will be returning to Madison Square Garden in New York City for the September 10th 2021 edition of Friday Night Smackdown. The last time WWE ran an event at MSG was on December 26th 2019.
With AEW announcing the September 22nd Dynamite at Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens and the September 13th edition of Dynamite taking placing in Newark, NJ, there had been speculation that WWE would run an event in the New York market before AEW. Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men Podcast noted that WWE already had plans to run MSG and AEW wasn’t a factor…
Few things to note regarding WWE running MSG Sept 10th@MikePWInsider report breaks it all down.
WWE had this venue for 2020 but obviously couldn't run it.
This has nothing to do with AEW running Queens NYC in September.

MSG recently returned to hosting full capacity events with a Foo Fighters concert that took place on June 20th.
