It was recently reported by Justin Barrasso of SI.com that WWE is planning to have this year’s Summerslam take place in front of a live crowd.
2020’s Summerslam PPV was originally supposed to take place in Boston, MA but it appears that WWE is looking at alternate locations for this year’s show. Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com noted the following…
“As we mentioned earlier this week in the PWInsider Elite section, there’s been talk within the company about potentially running the show in Phoenix, Arizona as well as potentially Texas. Nothing is set in stone, obviously.”
Johnson added that internal hope within WWE is that the company will be able to hold the event at an outdoor stadium with fans.
Both State Farm Stadium (Wrestlemania 26 venue) and Chase Field (2019 Royal Rumble venue) in Phoenix have retractable roofs for an open-air setting.
