People within WWE are reportedly not happy with Carlito’s line about Damage CTRL on WWE RAW

As seen during the October 21st 2024 edition of WWE RAW, Carlito walked by Damage CTRL (Iyo Sky and Kairi Sane) and said “I gotta learn Chinese” to general manager Adam Pearce even though the team is Japanese. Official social media video clips from the segment had the line removed.

According to Fightful Select, Carlito’s remark drew criticism as Iyo had faced derogatory comments in the past including when a fan told her to “go back to China” during an episode of NXT from several years ago. Fightful noted the following about the situation…

“The claim internally from at least one staff member was that the line was not scripted, and that they had spoken to were in disbelief that it was said. Internally, there were a number in the company that weren’t happy it happened. We’ve not heard of any action or heat on anyone for the situation as of yet.”
