Nikki Bella pitched an idea for WWE Clash in Italy but it “fell through”

I was like, ‘Hey guys, I would love to do this, whether it’s for the pre-show, like when we used to do those fun promo-commercial things for PLEs, or just make it social content.’

I titled it ‘Ciao Bella’ because, obviously, Bella, and because it was in Italy. Brie and I have Italian heritage. The idea was that I’d have all these different moments with WWE Superstars.

For example, there would be a moment where I’m on an Italian scooter with Danhausen and his scarf is flying in my face. Then it cuts to me having a moment with Brie and Paige, having Aperol Spritzes with the tag team champions.

Then I’d be on a gondola ride with Gunther, and he’s just staring straight ahead being Gunther while I’m looking around, totally ‘Emily in Paris’-style, wondering what’s happening.

That’s what gave me the idea of ‘Emily in Rome’ — me totally being an Emily-type character with WWE Superstars. Then the gondolier would be another WWE Superstar, either giving me dirty looks or being someone who hates Gunther.

I had another moment where Oba Femi and I are getting gelato and trying to take a selfie together. Obviously, there’s the height difference, but then The Judgment Day comes along and slaps the gelato out of our hands.

I had all these fun little segment ideas with WWE Superstars that were very Italian and fun. They gave off those ‘Emily in Paris’ vibes because, obviously, you’ll be watching Clash in Italy internationally on Netflix.

They showed interest. I was going back and forth with the team, and they really liked the idea because of my ending segment.

I’m walking down the street and people keep saying, ‘Ciao Bella, ciao bella,’ because they do that in Italy, right? Then I pause and go, ‘Oh my God, I’m so famous here.’ But obviously it’s because they call everyone bella. I just think it’s because I’m Nikki Bella. So it was cute.

They all loved it, but then it fell through.”
